Rum Sponge Special Edition Clarendoni
Dieser Rum wurde 1997 von Clarendon und Caroni aus Melasse in Jamaica und Trinidad hergestellt.Für diesen besonderen Blend hat Angus je 50/50 von seinem Clarendon 1997 und Caroni 1997 vermählt und leicht verdünnt mit 60.0% abgefüllt. Für die Destillation wurde eine Column Still (Caroni) & Pot Still (Clarendon) verwendet.
Sponge schreibt zu diesem Rum: "This is the first (and potentially only) Rum Sponge Special Edition bottling we have done - and it is extreme, silly and extremely silly.
This is a 50/50 mix of rum from a single barrel of 1997 Clarendon with the same volume from a barrel of 1997 Caroni. Both of these casks each had over 20 years of tropical maturation, and the resulting 25 year old blend was bottled with a few degrees reduction at 60% in the rather sexy hand blown glass we use for these very occasional Special Edition releases. Only 95 bottles of this mad blend have been created - and there is now only 94 because Angus has started drinking one already.
We decided to do this rather crazy mix because the extreme power of each distinctive profile combines, with the shared intense characteristic of extended tropical maturation, to create a highly distinctive and wonderfully complex profile that veers wildly between the Jamaican and Trinidadian personalities, all the while expressing this deep and intensely gluey funkiness of hot climate concentration!
