Swell de Spirits schreibt zum Field Trip #7:
"Embark on a delicious journey, tasting this Pineau de Charente, the elegance of the balsamic of Modena and the rich allure of the old Amontillado de Jerez.
Color: Deep brown
Nose : Deep aromas of rancio and balsamic, dried figs, plum and prune jam, black cherries, minted cassis and strawberry laces, wrapped in old oak, leather and walnut shells, coffee cake and raisin bread, Amontillado sherry, a hint of orange zest and dark chocolate.
Palate : The fruitiness of mirabelle plums, figs and nectarines is still there, but now it dances alongside aged leather, toasted nuts and dried fruit. A bit of citrus with waxy lemons and limes, balanced by notes of molasses and caramelised nuts. The rancio influence is evident, as is the balsamic of Modena and the aged Palo Cortado sherry, the cheesecake and sponge cake.
Finish : Sponge cake with fig jam and walnuts, hazelnuts, a hint of caramelized apple, ripe fruit, spices and the lingering notes of Modena balsamic that prolong the finish.
Conclusion: A rare Pineau des Charentes which reveals itself with a perfect balance between fruit, wood and rancio, reminiscent of old Sherry."
